Made up of business and legal leaders in the Maryland community, the Equal Justice Council supports Maryland Legal Aid in numerous ways, including acting as ambassadors and advocates for the organization. For nearly 110 years, Maryland Legal Aid has provided legal assistance and representation for low-income and marginalized individuals across the state of Maryland.
The Equal Justice Council conducts robust fundraising campaigns focused on personal contributions and donations from the business community. Additionally, the Equal Justice Council cultivates relationships with foundations and corporations that have the capacity to support Maryland Legal Aid. Members host the annual managing partners’ breakfast for legal leaders in the community, as well as recruiting events like the annual Equal Justice Awards breakfast.
